Ra.One - Movie Preview.

All that hype. All the promotion, merchandise and ALL that money... for this.
High expectations dashed like a bug on a windshield. The movie was not only bad, it was awful. The script reached the point of utter chaos, or seemed like it was given to a caffeinated squirrel with a typewriter. Sitting there in the theatre, bombarded with line after line of corny jokes, like spraying spiderman with Baygon , and Power Yoga, I came away at the interval absolutely EXHAUSTED.
I am generally a very optimistic  person, and I am grasping at straws here, but lets take away the positives from Ra.One. There are appoximately 4:
1.THE GRAPHICS- Though I  have a generally low opinion of Indian Graphics, I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of the special effects and it made me say "COOL!" out loud more than once.
2.THE MUSIC= Apart form the much awaited toe tapping number Chamak Challo Feat Akon, there were other songs which were pleasant to the ear and which will turn into headcases after you leave like DhilDara.
3.THE KID=  12 year old Armaan Varma, in my opinion was one of the very few people who actually acted well. His emotion was so natural that your heart really goes out to the little kid who misses his "Appa"
4.RA.ONE = The villain himself, portrayed so amazingly by Arjun Rampal, was probably the only reason I didnt come away absolutely disgusted.
I am normally a very level headed person, but even I couldnt take all of this-------------------------->
A Lesser-Willed person would have probably melted away.

Thats it, and this is being optimistic. The portrayal of SRK as a Tamilian( was the probably the worst part of the film,(being Tamilian myself, I took it as a personal insult), in which he sounded like had a 2 day crash course of Tamil from RajniKanth (which he probably did)
oh speaking of which, I think the only time the entire audience whistled was during the guest appearance of SuperStar Rajnikanth as Chitti, from Enthiran.
There was more of such attrocities, like when Kareena comes out of a Freaking train wreck with perfect hair, makeup and manicured nails.
Bottomline: May have actually been a good film had they straightened out the storyline. In fact, if they had done less with it, it would have been an ABSOLUTE Hit. Trying to do too much, the ended up with a chaotic mess as the final result. At the end of the day, you would feel sorry for them for having worked so hard for this tangle of a film.
If you ever want to watch it, I suggest on DVD and surround sound, with a bunch of good friends, and a good fast forward remote so that you can replay the last 45 minutes of the film again and again, just for Arjun Rampal, or if you have NOTHING.WHATSOEVER.TO .DO.WITH.YOUR.ABYSS.OF.A.LIFE.

Thats when you watch it. Otherwise Dont. Trust me.
