Its Christmas!

Hey everyone! its Christmas!
I am way more excited than i should be, given that i dont even celebrate it... but i have tried out a few new things this year... for example, yesterday i was invited by my friend to hear her church choir in a big programme.. It was nothing less than a revelation.
AS soon as I entered the commencing prayer was said.. it was in Malayalam, and my other hindu friend and I were astonished as to how close it sounded to a priest chanting in sanskrit in a hindu temple...
The hymns gave me chills... almost literally.. the harmony and the chorus really did send shivers down many spines, and i truly enjoyed the whole experience!

I have this belief that one must , atleast for a month, practise all the other religions but his own, and one would realise how similar all the religions are, and also learn to accept all the differences too.
I sooo wanna try Buddhism :D not that i dont like my ownn.. I am just curious about the others , thats all.
I have always had this ... umm.. craving shall we say? to visit all the different House of God for every religion.. so far, despite living in an Islamic country, I haven visited a mosque.. unless you count the Jama Masjid, but that dosent count since i didnt actually go inside, i just saw the courtyard :P
so.. I ve been to temples (many) , a couple of churches, though not during service, and yah,.. thats it.. not even a chinese temple, though i am DYING to go into one... well i need to patient dont I?

So anyway, Heres wishing all my readers (if there are any ) a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !
My new year post is a -fast approaching...
I hope you did something useful this year, coz i certainly havent.. apart from seeing my Most FAVORITE SPortsperson in flesh and blood in front of me.. (refer to Dubai post, somewhere in March)
Yah thats about it. This year has been quite frustrating to put it plainly.
More later
Love y'all (if y'all even exist)

Jabberwocky

This is my favorite poem.. the only one which I bothered to memorize completely.
Why? Well, there are a number of reasons for that!
Firstly, it makes no sense, it is covered with nonsensical terms which have no inner meaning whatsoever, and yet this amazing poem is known worldwide.
Secondly, it describes the triumph of good over evil, I know that there are many such pieces, but this one combines my favorite things when related to fighting evil- A monster, and a magical sword :)
Thirdly, but most importantly, this poem made an imprint on the world of literature. Not only is it a  part of one of the most famous books in history, it also lead to the coining of many new words which ended up in the Oxford Dictionary!
I want to be able to do that. To make my mark on this world, to leave behind a legacy which people would cherish. I want to change somehting in this world, however small. I want to be remembered, to carve my niche on this Earth. That is my dream. To Be Unique.

Below is the entire poem completely memorised and written by me.

T'was Brillig and the slithy toves,
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
 All mimsy were the borogroves
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Beware the Jabberwock my son!
Of jaws that bite, and claws that snatch!
Beware the JubJub Bird, and shun
The frumious bandersnatch!

He took his vorpal sword in hand
Long time the manxome foe he sought
so rested he by the TumTum tree,
and stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood
The Jabberwock with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood
And burbled as it came!

One ,Two, One Two, and through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Calooh Callay!
He chortled in his joy.

T'was Brillig and the slithy toves,
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe
 All mimsy were the borogroves
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Ra.One - Movie Preview.

All that hype. All the promotion, merchandise and ALL that money... for this.
High expectations dashed like a bug on a windshield. The movie was not only bad, it was awful. The script reached the point of utter chaos, or seemed like it was given to a caffeinated squirrel with a typewriter. Sitting there in the theatre, bombarded with line after line of corny jokes, like spraying spiderman with Baygon , and Power Yoga, I came away at the interval absolutely EXHAUSTED.
I am generally a very optimistic  person, and I am grasping at straws here, but lets take away the positives from Ra.One. There are appoximately 4:
1.THE GRAPHICS- Though I  have a generally low opinion of Indian Graphics, I was pleasantly surprised to see the quality of the special effects and it made me say "COOL!" out loud more than once.
2.THE MUSIC= Apart form the much awaited toe tapping number Chamak Challo Feat Akon, there were other songs which were pleasant to the ear and which will turn into headcases after you leave like DhilDara.
3.THE KID=  12 year old Armaan Varma, in my opinion was one of the very few people who actually acted well. His emotion was so natural that your heart really goes out to the little kid who misses his "Appa"
4.RA.ONE = The villain himself, portrayed so amazingly by Arjun Rampal, was probably the only reason I didnt come away absolutely disgusted.
I am normally a very level headed person, but even I couldnt take all of this-------------------------->
A Lesser-Willed person would have probably melted away.

Thats it, and this is being optimistic. The portrayal of SRK as a Tamilian( was the probably the worst part of the film,(being Tamilian myself, I took it as a personal insult), in which he sounded like had a 2 day crash course of Tamil from RajniKanth (which he probably did)
oh speaking of which, I think the only time the entire audience whistled was during the guest appearance of SuperStar Rajnikanth as Chitti, from Enthiran.
There was more of such attrocities, like when Kareena comes out of a Freaking train wreck with perfect hair, makeup and manicured nails.
Bottomline: May have actually been a good film had they straightened out the storyline. In fact, if they had done less with it, it would have been an ABSOLUTE Hit. Trying to do too much, the ended up with a chaotic mess as the final result. At the end of the day, you would feel sorry for them for having worked so hard for this tangle of a film.
If you ever want to watch it, I suggest on DVD and surround sound, with a bunch of good friends, and a good fast forward remote so that you can replay the last 45 minutes of the film again and again, just for Arjun Rampal, or if you have NOTHING.WHATSOEVER.TO .DO.WITH.YOUR.ABYSS.OF.A.LIFE.

Thats when you watch it. Otherwise Dont. Trust me.

Stereotypes- Part 1

This post has two parts.. in this post I will be focussing on the international aspect of stereotypes.. how the ppl of one country perceive people of another..
ok enough with the seriousness!!
Its funny how we think of typical things when someone mentions another nationality.. No offence to any country, every single country and its people are awesome..
This.is.fact.
I am not gonna lie to you, this is how I think if someone tells me to imagine a person from a particular country. But I know tat it HArdly ever applys!
I wonder what brought about these ? o.O
1. Imagine the french- An artist (why does it have to be an artist??? oO) wearing a mime shirt, a red scarf around his neck, a toothbrush mustache , wearing a black beret and carrying a baguette.. SRSLIEE? wow. and smoking.with accordion music in the background. Sacre bleu!!
2.  Imagine the British- posh, in a suit, speaks with spit. drinks tea at 4 with lemon with their little finger sticking up. probably with a monocle.  Walrus mustache? Bowler hat and cane. sits straight all the time. All the people in Britain are probably goin WT-?  right now. as they should.Oh. My Word.
3 - Imagine the Chinese- You imagine a lot of red clothes, long emperor mustaches, like noodles... ooohh noodles! lots of them.. n rice, with chopsticks.. n gongs. Probably a TT champ. and Communism.
-Imagine the Russians.- Military, definitely Military . Large woollen hats and Ballet dancers. Big Boots. WHYYYYYY??? oO
.Imagine the Japanese- Kimonos, uptight, extremely competent, probably a camera on their person
6--Imagine the Italians- Do you think of the Mafia eating Pasta? Or Chef Linguini?maybe Mario. I do.

7- -AND NOW THE INDIANS .. I didnt actually realise this until I saw Phineas n Ferb. Baljeet is the ultimate stereotyped indian... Smart, Nerdy, Bookish,Chess?does Math in free time,  *speaks in a weird accent*, using high dictionary language instead of normal words, eats curry day in n day out, breaks out into a song number for trivial issues (this made me laugh, srsliee xD)  Grades are EVERYTHING!Stay with parents till we marry,(which is true btw) , etc.
See this video, every single stereotype of Indians seem to be in it.. I laughed so much I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the end!! Being Indian, i find it really funny that people think of us this way!
I wish everyone could laugh off stereotypes, because we know we are not really like that!(well, mostly :S)

Again, no offence to anyone.

Live your Life!! Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Tomato Festivals, Sky Diving, Deep Sea Diving , and the Bull runs in Pamplona... This movie has it all.
As a bachelor trip, Kabir (Abhay Deol), Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (Hritik Roshan), take a 3 week vacation in Sunny Spain. This movie truly provides an opportunity to see the beauty of that wonderful country Espana.
The three plan trips to Costa Brava, Seville and Pamplona. As part of the deal, each will choose a sport that they wish to do, and it will come as a surprise to the other two.
It shows the emotional trauma of each of the main characters and the way in which they overcome them.
The humour is brilliant and Imran truly comes as a comic relief, making the audience LOL more than once, for instance when he throws Arjun's (who is a workaholic) phone out of the window, or when he names a 12000 euro bag Bagwathi and keeps it with him throughout the film.
A story of friendship, and overcoming obstacles, it is poignant , providing not only lessons but also great humour and lots of "eye candy" too. The only thing which irritated me was Katrina Kaif, who provided nothing for the film in terms of acting, or anything else for that matter. Also the fact that they kept telling Arjun that money is not important, and at the same times forgetting that without money, they wouldnt have been able to plan the trip in the first place.
The music was amazing, toe tapping and kept you humming even after the movie was over. My personal favorites are  Senorita (featuring the original voices of the trio) and Dil Dhadakne Do (almost the title song) :D.
the movie  is a bundle of laughs and chills and thrills, and the Encierro ( bull running scene )at the end is the best part, which got pulses racing. It teaches you to live life to the fullest.
A must-see at-least once, specially if you have a group of amazing friends.

Atlantis:the lost empire

I am talking about the Disney movie. I have always loved that movie. It was serious as it was funny. So I took it upon myself to draw a few characters. I want to draw more... hmm maybe later :)

"After all this time?" "Always"-HP7 part 2

Lumos.
I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

Nearly ill with excitement, and terrified of being late to the most anticipated movie of my life, I sat with some relief in my comfortable chair and with some reluctance put my 3D glasses over my own (a disadvantage of watching 3D as I am never comfortable because the glasses never sit on my nose). The Theatre (me leading) gave a cheer as the Warner Bros logo zoomed into our faces and the movie continued where it left off.
The Gringott's scene was one of the best scenes ever taken and the only scene really, to be effective in 3D. The dragon gave adrenaline rushes to anyone present, (spewing fire on the audience's faces and throwing debris everywhere), and the heist was action packed, with an amazing performance from Helena Bonham Carter as Hermione :D
The Battle of Hogwarts.. to put in one word- cool? Awesome? Mind Blowing? The special effects were to die for. You could feel the sense of danger, and even though you were sitting on the other side of the screen, you felt truly scared, and your emotions flowed with those on screen.
There was humour too, despite the seriousness of the situation. There are many, but one which needs mention is Ron running behind Malfoy, Zabini and Goyle, yelling "Thats my girlfriend you numpties!" xD
A special mention goes to Maggie Smith, as Mineva Mcgonagall, with the most classic sense of humor ever, claiming things like "I've always wanted to use that spell" (after asking the Hogwarts statues to guard the school), or "Boom" and she has a big role as the guiding force in the Battle.

The Ron/Hermione kiss was way too random and disappointed me,  as if they were waiting 7 years just to kiss randomly in the Chamber of Secrets! and so did the deaths of Lupin , Tonks and Fred. I was ready to bawl my eyes out for Fred's death but they just suddenly show him dead. I wish they had given him a heroic farewell, like in the book.
The Prince's Tale was the best part of the movie, and as strong as I am, I couldn't take it. I cried my eyes out. Alan Rickman gave one of his best performances ever and showed us what a quality actor he is. It is hard to play such a role, as a man grieving a lost love, risking his life over the years to protect a boy who is not his. But he executed it perfectly, and I really  had to give him a bow after it was over.

Neville (Mathew Lewis) deserves a special mention as he comes out as the Hero, its hard to believe that the fat bumbling boy who, people believed, didnt belong in Gryffindor, was the strapping tall (hot ;)) brave character you see on screen, and he was a source of many cheers from the audience.

Another thing which got applause? Molly Weasley of course, we fans were terrified that it wouldnt make it to the film, and it was a relieved applause which erupted when she screamed "NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU BITCH!" :D

Voldemort's death was probably for the "movies only" viewers, effective for 3D, but it came as a surprise for the "reader" viewers. Ralph Fiennes as usual, played the brilliant "high definition villain"(in is own words), but funnily enough, I was disappointed that there wasnt a single "NYEEAHHHHH" in the movie!
The score was a stroke of genius by Alexandre Desplat. The music fully captured the mood and brought romance to a film full of action. Special mention to:Lily's Theme ( really folks, listen to it, gives you goosebumps) . They kept bringing up Hedwig's Theme, and I am glad the score didn't die with the character, as it gave the audience nostalgia of journey through the years.

I loved the epilogue, 19 years later, it was nice that they used the same characters, but they didn't look that much older and it was difficult to accept that the small kids were our heroes' kids. They ended the last movie with a sense of Deja vu, the audience remember a giant Hagrid waving goodbye to the very same person who is now waving to his son , and playing in the background was the same music: Leaving Hogwarts, which brought many a tear to my eye.
I couldnt get up when it was over; I stood where I was , and saw the entire credits go by for the last time, hardly daring to believe that it was all over at last.
The movie was brilliantly executed, and it features 3rd on my list only because the script had gaping holes which should have been filled. It is only the third movie ever to make me actually shed tears, and the only one which made me shed more than one. (in fact the only movie to actually make me sob)

At the end of it all,  I left, tears making small streaks down my cheeks,  and if anyone had asked me"After all this time?"
"Always" Thats my answer forever more.

So now here is my ranking of my favorite Harry potter films... I obviously have my own views of the series and anyone is free to disagree with me.
1Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
3 .Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
4. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
5. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
6. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
7.. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
8. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

This is book by John Boyne is one of the most touching ones I've read. It takes place in Aushwitz,,  (which the main character, a 9 year old boy named Bruno, poignantly pronounces as Out-With) during the Second World War ,where Bruno meets a Jew named Shmuel. The boys become fast friends, and the story tells of the conversations they have, sitting on opposite sides of the concentration camp fence. It speaks of innocence, and childish morals, which everyone should have but don't. It relates little tales of Nazi Germany, how his father , The Commandant moves them from Berlin to "Out-With" after a visit by "The Fury" and Eva Braun.
It is so sad, what happens in the end is both painful and dramatically ironic, given his fathers position, but thinking back on it, it seems that was the only appropriate ending.
A must read, whatever you age may be.

Remembering the Magic- The Legacy of Potter

I cry as I write this. The era which lasted more than 12 years is now coming to an end. Jk Rowling has spellbound us for 12 years with the story of a scrawny bespectacled young wizard who captures the hearts of young and old alike. As a follower of the Potter Cult since the age of 6 and a 1/2 (I love adding that half makes me feel older somehow :D), I have grown up in a Magical world, one where house elves coming knocking at your door to throw cake, of one where owls deliver the post. (To be honest, I have been waiting for that Hogwarts acceptance letter for some time now, so boo sux to you dumbledore).
Jk rowling is truly a magician, with a charmed quill, she brought us 7 beautiful books, 7 years in the life of a Hero, the Chosen one .

It all began with a Curse. For millions of people worldwide this Curse turned into a Boon as we were launched into the story of the Boy who Lived. (in the cupboard under the stairs? :P). We learn the true meaning of Friendship, and Bravery. We learn that "happiness can even be found in the darkest if times, if only one remembers ,to turn on the light (Dumbledore, HPPOA). Over the years, I have come to think of these wonderful characters, not just as characters from a page, only in black and white, but as real people in flesh and blood, with aspirations and dreams. I cry from my heart when something happens to them, or if they die (I couldnt help it, I shed one tear for Hedwig, a bucket for Dobby, and an ocean for Fred, who along with his twin George are my favorite characters in the whole series, I almost had mini crushes on the characters). Words like "muggle" and "Horcrux", "dementor" and "boggart" are part of my everyday vocabulary. I play Potter games, and talk Potter with my friends. I was Watching the Potter press conference and it was  amazing how they think of the Harry Potter set up as a family, as they have grown up together, and they dont think of it as a money making job.
The Potter Series has been.. more than a series. It was the first real book I touched; I got most of my vocabulary from it. My success in the English language began as a result of reading Harry Potter.

I have grown up with the characters, matured with them, chosen them as role models, and walked with them through their troubles and triumphs. In Jo's words, I am truly honored to have stuck with Harry till the very end.
J K Rowling has carved a niche for herself with the Greats, and I have no doubts that Harry Potter will join the Classics one day.

It definitely dosent end here, sure, there are no more films or books to look forward to, only endless reruns on television and secret readings since I am now officially banned form reading harry potter again (too many times I guess). No other series has as much fan following, and I have absolutely nothing to wait for during the summer, or winter, or anything. But as I said, the magic lives on. People will continue to quote the books, people will watch the reruns, and people will take home the lessons which the Wonderful characters have thought us. And if you are crying too, dont worry, you are just as sane as I am ;)

Here is a beautiful tribute I found on Youtube, they are petitioning to play this at the end of the movie, and I really hope they do.

I saw this in a site- After a total of 12 years in

4,195 pages and
17 hours & 32 minutes of screen running time,
there is only 2 hours and 30 minutes left until the journey ends.
Keep Calm and Hold Hands.
The magic will live forever.
It is fitting that I end this with Jo Rowlings own words-"No story lives unless someone wants to listen... the stories we love best do live in us forever.... so whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."

Rangas marriage summary :P = My version

I couldnt think of any posts to put up at  present, so I thought I could recycle.. this is a note I wrote on facebook last year when our holiday assignment for English was to read the most crappy piece of "literature"  on the planet and write a summary. I was in no mood to write the actual thing and this summary came to me at 2 am. It would be better if u read the actual story first  here
now heres my summary :P

The tale is about an extremely desperate young man named Ranga who, on account of not being able to get a date , decides to pop the question to the first girl he meets. He seeks the advice of his friend, a 75 year old delusional match- maker who thinks that Rangas head would explode unless he marries a girl half his age. So he hatches a plan, a match-making plot of epic proportions which sets in motion a love story greater than the likes of Twilight and Romeo n Juliet. and it involves a young girl, Ratna.

Ratna is not your average 11 year old. While other kids her age just focus on passing 6th grade (not a very easy year, as u may recall) this Pre-teen has her life all sorted out. She wants to marry and pop out 12 children before her friends finish their education. Very spirited n'est ce pas?

Back to the plan: The aisha in extremely old male form takes Ranga to his house for tea. While Ranga is out answering nature's call, he calls in Ratna, who sees fit to wear a saree that day ( a feat not accomplished by people  years older than her yet) and asks her to sing.
Ranga hears her demonic screeches, and its love at first....um...sound. Ratna was more than willing, although she plays hard to get for a month, breaking Ranga's heart a couple of times, before they get married.

The match maker of course, being the modest sort of chap he is, takes full credit of this union. although they name their children against his wishes, he dosen't start a plot to break them up as he is really too old and decides to retire.

Now only one question remains : How Many Children? wait for the sequel and see folks!!

Novak Djokovic- one of the Greats?

hmm.. yet another sports post...
the recent win by Serbian awesomeness Novak djokovic has actually gotten me thinking about the future of Mens Tennis. As an avid fan of the sport, i also like to analyse the games of various players, and i have noticed a serious change in the game of one such Novak Djokovic.
Already a very intelligent player to begin with, Nole has come into 2011 with the determination to blow away all opponents whoever it may be. After a US Open final loss to Rafael Nadal, he didnt look back. he had an unbeaten run till he lost to Roger Federer in the French open semifinal. but this Serb has has only one loss this year! not only has he beaten Nadal 5 times this year, he has also beaten him on clay and displaced him from the number 1 position!
with his intelligent stroke play and his speed around the court, he is looking truly unbeatable this year. He is also one of the best Service "Returners" of the Mens game.
The fact that he is only 24 ensures that he will be around for atleast another 8 years and he is looking to dominate for the next year! So buck up Rafa, Fedex and murray,  because Nole is ready to Djolt you away!!
And i cant believe i got his autograph !! I love you <3 NOLE <3

Waves of Boredom

there is absolutely nothing to do here!!! oh sure, there's a tennis court, a TT table , a Badminton court a swimming pool and a library, but since i cant play these sports alone, and i Obviously dont know swimming, and the library has as much reading capacity as our Schools library (which by the way, hasn't seen a work of Literature since the Great Flood) , i am just drowning in boredom (woah long sentence aint it? )
i feel like my cousin is doing his homework just to get out of playing with me. (One of my Best friends calls me a Conspiracy Theorist, but i guess its just the Pandi in me.. we are naturally suspicious characters) . i certainly wouldnt take time off to sit 3 hours on Math homework.
Its been constantly raining for the past few hours, so obviously a walk through the gorgeous garden and landscape is ruled out. i am stuck inside only hearing the piteous meows of some stranded kitten. The weather by the way has done wonders to my usually straight and manageable hair, and i think i d be expecting a call from the Bride of Frankenstein (or maybe Bellatrix Lestrange) to return their hair.
if you have any suggestions for me on how to manage my time, feel free to give me a call.. :D
signing off for now, but I LL BE BACK xD

The Cheer in the Willows- Cricket, sporting glue.. :)

yes, i am writing this more than 2 months after India won the world cup. TWO MONTHS.. im in 12th people... dont judge me!
i never thought it would happen. yes, india had a chance, but thats all it was, A CHANCE.
Cricket has been part and parcel of peoples lives ever since the British imported the Willow into india. way back when they were still ruling. This sport is undeniably the best thing the British brought into the country.our cricketers have become Superstars. Icons, Idols of worship . Beacons of light. you name it.
Not all of them had it good from the beginning. Tendulkar studied only till high school. M S Dhoni himself was a ticket collector in Jharkhand. now they are the most recognised people in India!
Cricket brings together people from all walks of life. Shops stop running, your waiter just made your coffee overflow- Its a SIX!
a bunch of people got together at my place for the final. people i havent met in a long time. and when Dhoni it that six, we just went crazy screaming shouting, hugs, horns and whistles.
The world cup got my friends who dont even know the spelling of cricket- maybe not literally, but i havent asked them to spell it .. maybe because i would murder them brutally if they spelt it KRIKIT- to sit and watch a 50 over game- comepletely. for 6 hours solid. luckily my tuitions were cancelled too. (the power of cricket for you! ) it makes mankind drop whatever they are doing , just to see 11 men play. its Amazing.
Dhoni is a Midas. under him ,
india has won the T20 World cup
ICC world cup
india is the number 1 test side.
Chennai Super kings won 2 IPLs and a Champions League.
i hope he continues to turn things to gold. :)
Go India! BLEED BLUE!
I love cricket. simply because it brings the world together.
Amen.

I feel empty

I don't want to sleep, not because I think reality is better but because I m scared of what my dreams would bring ...

back from the The Home of Architecture

If one mentions a place synonymous with architecture, which houses the marvels of the human mind, makes dreams come true and brings ideas which were but nagging hooks in the corner of ones brain into stupendous reality, I would know that he is talking of DUBAI.
Dubai has a knack of making you high. Its constantly changing, forever evolving, morphing itself into something new and better. The city itself is an Artists Dream, a canvas on which the best architects have put their paints, each with a different technique, which never fails to surprise anyone who visits. Theres always something new every time!

I personally think dubai is a place for everyone, the Shopaholic ( biggest mall, shopaholic paradise :)), the Adrenaline Junkie=( bungie jumping, para sailing ) , the marine biologists ( housing the biggest aquarium in the world),  sports fans (regularly hosting ATP tourney, and even cricket matches) and all the Music Maddies ( i narrowly missed a Jay sean concert. :() but mostly, its for the Aspiring Architect. Go around the city with a simple sketchpad and pencil, and there is so much to fill in! It is the Paris of the Middle East, and so cosmopolitan, your tend to forget your roots.

Going there is a unique experience! I was in awe of the city, though clustered, housed the weirdest looking buildings i ve ever seen, and i loved sketching the burj al arab from the car! My dream came through this time, with my first experience of a live match. Not only did i watch live tennis for 3 whole days, i also got the autographs of players i ve only dreamed of meeting, and these dreams for at the far corner of reality... after 2 rushing days of Caroline Woznicacki, Jelena Jankovic, Richard Gasquet(autograph :)), Thomas Berdych (autograph ) ,Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, (autograph=both!) Gilles Simon (autograph) NOVAK DJOKOVIC (AUTOGRAPH!) and ROGER FEDERER (unfortunately, no autograph :( ) . The piece de resistance, was the Nole Sign, i was in 7th heaven and beyond happiness.. sigh, it was a trip to remember!

The live match experience itself is something different, at home, you can watch replays and analyse shots, while in centre court, you live in the moment, revel in the awesomeness ;) of watching people you have idolized, play in front of you in flesh and blood, and when you actually get their sign or touch their hand... words cant describe the happiness..  a tennis match is eay to watch live, because the court is so close, you dont miss a thing, but you are watching the tennis ball,  so you tend to miss moments like fist pumps, falls and slides.. :P

i wouldnt trade that trip for anything, and this puts Dubai, high in the list of Must-Go-Before-You-Die places..:)

Grim Reaper and his oddities.. :P

A terrible occurrence in school led me to ponder on the fragility of life and the unpredictability of death..
if you are lucky, the Grim Reaper knocks before he comes.. but most of the time, he barges right in, probably leaving the door broken on its well oiled hinges.. (I was going to use rusty, but this is in the context of young deaths..) .
sometimes he entices you, with one long gnarled finger, beckoning, closer, closer, till its too late and you are already in his clutches..
and sometimes he drags you , feet first into the bowels of Death... we go, but only grudgingly, kicking and screaming because theres still too much to do.. so many promises, left unfulfilled, so many things left unsaid..its still too early..
in the case of the last category, people who receive him with open arms, whether the time is right or not, because they know that death is not the end, it s merely the beginning.. :)

heres a pic I drew in december..not my greatest work, but I'm proud of it.. I was thinking about this .. so its relevant...

Just thinking how much pain can stimulate a poet, or a writer, or any kind of muse for that matter, I didn't believe it before but am strtin to comprehend the enormity or pain in creativity... As much as I want to deny it, it does play a major role I guess...
I have been giving a lot of advice lately, though god knows who takes it..I sometimes feel that I have a lot of nerve giving advice when I don't take what i dish out..:P

Game,Set,What a Matchup!! Aussie Open Quarter(2)-26/1/11

Hurray Murray!!
Second set  of Quarterfinals began with a new high.
Andy Murray (GBR) took on Alexandr Dolgopolov(UKR) in a 4 set thriller. Before you ask, "Dolgop-Wha-?"let me explain. This unseeded Ukrainian is one of the most unpredictable players in the draw, but not untalented, having taken out both Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and the 4th seed Robin Soderling in straight sets.
The match was definitely an entertaining one, with long rallies and smashing points. Murray was the better player, but flashes of brilliance from Dolgopolov made for an interesting match.
Finally what let Dolgopolov down were his unforced errors-77 to Murrays 34! His flamboyance on court didnt help his cause either, most of his errors coming from over-hitting the ball.High speed of ground strokes gave some fascinating points to watch. The Ukrainian had more aces though(16-9) and that was the aspect of the game that let him shine, his serve was fast and accurate, and his movement was quick and effortless(he once came 3m fromt he baseline to take a perfectly executed drop shot from Murray and managed to win the point). Occasional lapse of intelligence helped Murray get the upper hand.
The Scotsman was by no means a couch potato. He is well known for his court movement and smart play. And he didnt disappoint. He was not in his BEST form, but he kept his(not -so-cool) cool and prevailed(7-5,6-3,6-7,6-3) even after Dolgopolov managed to take the 4th set in the tiebreak.
bottomline- Although Murray slightly underperformed today, this match was a briliant one, catch the highlights! The Scot is a step closer to breaking his jinxed and God knows, he may finally get his first Grand Slam!!

Spanish Armadas Clash-
And i had thought that the Murray match was entertaining.
This match out classed that one in every aspect.
The quality of this match was definitely 5 star! Spain vs spain . World no.1 Rafael Nadal took on his Davis cup partner and friend David Ferrer. This match was totally different from the other Clash of the Same Country we had recently. While Wawrinka had a mental block against Federer, his pal, Ferrer had come into this match to win it. You could see it from the start.  He played aggressively , came to the net more, and had beautiful strokes which blew The Great Nadal away. Nadal didnt take it lying down thugh, he also came up with awe-inspiring shots at the baseline, amazing angles and Jaw dropping drop shots. But when Ferrer broke nadal, we start to see him struggling. Medical timeout after medical timeout, trainercoming on and off, it is evident that Nadal was feeling more than under the weather. Games got longer, and the strain was beginning to show. The quality didnt drop however, but it was clear that Ferrer was in control. He played smart, got in first serves and aces(8-2), and kept his focus.
After ferrer took the first set 6-4, Nadal fans began to panic. Each shot brought a grimace on both nadals and his uncle tonis faces. Despite his discomfort, nadal being nadal, he fought back. but in vain. David Ferrer prevailed in straight stes, 6-4,6-2,6-3 to earn a spot in the semis. He will play Andy Murray.
Bottomline- If you missed this, groan and bang your head, coz it was truly an epic struggle. Even if you are a Nadal fan, you cant help admire Ferrers game, and of course, feel sorry for Nadal who was goin for a record- first man to hold all four slams in one yaer since the Great Rod Laver. ! pray he gets well soon, to come back to his Kingdom Of clay, coz he is truly The King Of Clay! OLE!!

Wacth out for the 2 semis- R.Federer(SUI) Vs N.Djokovic(SRB)
                                         D.Ferrer(ESP) Vs A.Murray(GBR)

Australian Open Quarterfinals-1 25/1/11

Fedex stuns "wah"wrinka
An all Swiss Quarterfinal, much anticipated, the great clash between Swiss no.1 and no.2,Roger Federer and
Stanislas Wawrinka.
The match started with a break of serve.Wawrinkas. With Federer leading from the start, the match never really took off. What the match lacked in quality and speed, made up for in finesse and fun. Not every point was entertaining and the match just faded away.
Although a few points took your breath away-Federer hit another tweener between his legs!(it is said that he loves to practice this more than his serve!) ,monotonous and predictable hitting from Wawrinka(his signature shot-backhand down the line), who never got his rhythm, left you beggin for more. There was hardly any depth of play, low force in ground strokes and generally this was a match which was seriously overrated.
In the end, The FedExpress steamrolled Stan 6-1,6-3,6-4 to earn a well deserved spot in the semis. The interview (as always) was a funny one, with Jim Courier figuring out that Federer has nicked 20 towels from Centrecourt so far!
Bottomline-Cute match, but hardly fit for a Quarter, left you feeling bored and was definitely not worth a 4:30 AM wakeup call!

Updates- Caroline Wozniacki(DEN) beat Feancesca Schiavone(ITA) 3-6,6-3,6-3. Unfortunate, seeing that Schiavone (for me) has become a palyer to watch out for, specially after her nail biting marathon of a 3rd round where she beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4,1-6,16-14!! (incidentally both the players are French Open champions, Schiavone being the current, n kuznetsova the previous year's) :)

Li Na(CHN) defeated Andrea Petkovic(who took out Sharapova in straight sets)(GER) 6-2,6-4 to advance to her second consecutive Aust open semi. She had upped her game signifigantly over the years, and she truly deserves to get to the final.

Novak Djokovic(SRB) defeated Thomas Berdych(CZE) 6-1,7-6,6-1. Saw only one set but loved the quality of tennis, though i felt Berdych could have done better , seeing that he has beaten Djokovic before. Djokovic has been the most consistent player so far in this half of the draw, he hasnt dropped a set and is a strong contender, waiting to regain his title!! :)

Cant wait for tomorrow! :)
